Madrid is rarely associated with theme parks or large amusement parks, especially when compared with Barcelona or other European capitals known for their attractions. However, there are actually several really interesting places in and around the capital — from popular theme parks and zoos to water parks, aquariums and outdoor adventure parks.

There are only two classic amusement parks near Madrid — but what parks they are! Both offer a completely different type of experience: one is a full-scale theme park with a cinematic atmosphere and major attractions, while the other is a more compact urban park.
Theme park near Madrid — Parque Warner Madrid
Parque Warner Madrid is one of the best-known theme parks near the capital. It is located around 30 kilometres from Madrid and is dedicated to the Warner Bros. universe: there are DC Comics, Looney Tunes, Hollywood and Wild West areas, while the whole park is designed to make the experience feel like a journey through different cinematic worlds. If you are travelling with school-age children or teenagers and love films and theme parks, you are sure to enjoy this place.
The park is divided into five themed areas — Hollywood Boulevard, DC Super Heroes World, Movie World Studios, Cartoon Village and Old West Territory. Here you can meet DC superheroes and cartoon characters, walk through the streets of Gotham or the American Wild West, and watch performances and live shows with special effects. There are more than 30 attractions of varying intensity in total, so alongside the extreme roller coasters there are also family-friendly attractions for children.
One of the standout attractions is Batman Gotham City Escape — a multi-launch roller coaster with three launches, speeds of up to 104 km/h, a height of up to 45 metres and four inversions. The ride itself is not the only impressive thing: the track passes directly above the streets of Gotham City, so the trains race over visitors as they walk through the themed area. For adrenaline lovers, there are also other well-known attractions such as Superman: La Atracción de Acero, Stunt Fall and other extreme roller coasters, while Cartoon Village has family and children's areas featuring Looney Tunes and Scooby-Doo characters.
Amusement park in Madrid — Parque de Atracciones de Madrid
Parque de Atracciones de Madrid is one of Madrid's oldest amusement parks, and it remains a popular leisure destination for local residents and families with children. It is located in the green surroundings of Casa de Campo, just a few kilometres from the city centre, and is easy to reach by metro — the nearest station is Batán.
The park has more than 30 attractions divided into four areas: Maquinismo, Naturaleza, Tranquilidad and the children's Nickelodeon Land. Unlike Parque Warner, it does not have such a strong cinematic theme — the atmosphere is more traditional, with the main focus on the rides themselves and walking among the greenery of Casa de Campo. At the same time, there is a wide choice of attractions: the Maquinismo area is home to the extreme Abismo — a roller coaster with a vertical lift and a spectacular drop, Tarántula — a spinning coaster that creates a feeling of unpredictable movement, and La Lanzadera — a free-fall ride from a height of 63 metres at speeds of up to 87 km/h. For children, there is a separate Nickelodeon area with family-friendly attractions and character meet-and-greets.

Safari park near Madrid — Safari Madrid
Safari Madrid is located in Aldea del Fresno, around 40–45 minutes by car from Madrid. It is an unusual format that differs noticeably from a classic zoo: visitors drive through part of the park in their own car (it is not possible to hire a car on site), observing animals that often walk right alongside the vehicle and may even look inside, as if to say hello. Along the route, you can see lions, tigers, zebras, giraffes, elephants, rhinos, hippos, bison and other animals, with the animals having priority on the route — visitors remain in their cars.
In addition to the safari route, the park has areas that are visited on foot: a mini-zoo, a bird enclosure, the Rincón de los mansos with domestic animals, a reptile house and other exhibits. The bird of prey demonstration, which has been held here since 1978, deserves special attention, while the reptile house contains more than 60 species of reptiles, amphibians and arthropods. This makes the visit more varied than simply driving through the park with the animals.

Zoo and aquarium in Madrid — Zoo Aquarium de Madrid
Zoo Aquarium de Madrid is one of the best-known zoos in Spain, located in the green surroundings of Casa de Campo. It covers around 22 hectares and combines several formats in one place: a zoo, a large aquarium and an aviary.
The site is divided into areas dedicated to different parts of the world, so the animals and surrounding landscape change as you walk around. More than 1,300 animals from 333 species from all five continents are kept here, so you can see a wide variety of animals during a single visit: in the African area, you can observe giraffes, zebras and other inhabitants of the open savannah, while in the Asian area you can see pandas, red pandas, Indian rhinoceroses and elephants. There is also an aquarium with sharks and other marine life, while sea lion, bird of prey and exotic bird demonstrations take place throughout the day. The dolphinarium with educational programmes is of particular interest to children.
Biopark in Madrid — Faunia
Faunia is an unusual biopark in Madrid that differs from a classic zoo in its format and the way its grounds are designed. A walk here feels like a journey through different parts of the planet — the park is divided into themed ecosystems, each with its own animals, plants and atmosphere.
At the park, you can visit the tropical Jungla, see penguins in the polar Polos area, walk through Bosque Templado and the African ecosystem Bosque Africano. There are also more unusual spaces, such as Sombras Silenciosas, dedicated mainly to nocturnal animals.
Some of the exhibits are located in enclosed pavilions with a controlled climate, while others are outdoors. This means that Faunia can be visited at any time of year: on a hot day, it is pleasant to switch between the outdoor areas and cool pavilions, while in cooler weather, the indoor areas allow you to continue exploring the animal exhibits.
Aquarium in Xanadú — Atlantis Aquarium Madrid
Atlantis Aquarium Madrid is located in the Xanadú shopping and entertainment centre, around a 20-minute drive from Madrid. It is a modern interactive aquarium covering around 4,645 m², where around 10,000 animals from 150 species are kept across 20 aquariums. Here you can see sharks, rays, tropical fish, corals, jellyfish, sea turtles and penguins.
The exhibits focus on different aquatic ecosystems — from rivers and mangroves to tropical reefs, the open sea and Antarctica. Along the route, there are interactive areas, while part of the space is designed to feel like an immersion in the underwater world. For children, the interactive beach area, suspension bridge and other play elements are particularly interesting. Small educational talks about animals, feeding and the conservation of marine ecosystems also take place throughout the day.
Atlantis is easy to include in a day out at Xanadú: after visiting the aquarium, you can continue your day at the shopping centre, where there are other entertainment options and places to relax.
💦 Water parks near Madrid
There are only two water parks near Madrid, but they are among the main summer attractions for local residents and tourists.
Water park in Villanueva de la Cañada — Aquópolis
Aquópolis Villanueva de la Cañada is the largest water park in Madrid and one of the main summer leisure destinations near the capital. It is located around 30 kilometres from the capital and combines large water slides, a wave pool, family and children's areas, a sandy beach, green spaces and areas for relaxing.
The attractions are designed for different levels of activity: speed lovers can try extreme slides such as Kangaroa — a modern slide with six descents from a height of more than 10 metres — or Kilauea — a large attraction in the form of a water roller coaster. For a more relaxed experience, there are pools and relaxation areas. There is also a separate area for children with adapted versions of popular attractions.
Because of its size, Aquópolis is usually a destination for a full summer day: between rides, you can relax on the sandy beach or in the green area, grab something to eat and then return to the attractions. On the busiest days, queues for the most popular slides can become longer, so it is worth arriving early and buying tickets in advance.
Themed water park near Parque Warner — Parque Warner Beach
Parque Warner Beach is located next to Parque Warner in San Martín de la Vega and operates as a separate seasonal water park with its own entrance. The atmosphere of the Warner Bros. universe has been retained here: the area is designed in the style of 1950s California, and you can meet characters including Looney Tunes, the Flintstones, Scooby-Doo, Superman and Wonder Woman.
The water park is not very large, but its distinctive theme makes a visit a bright and memorable experience. The attractions are divided by intensity level — from gentler options for young children to more dynamic water slides. The water area includes pools, slides and a real sandy beach area.
The main feature of Parque Warner Beach is the opportunity to combine two types of entertainment in one trip. With the appropriate ticket, you can go directly from the water park into Parque Warner, making it convenient to combine the two into a full day of entertainment in summer. At the same time, Parque Warner Beach has its own separate entrance and can be visited independently of the theme park.

Adventure park in Guadarrama — Tirolinas GO! Madrid
Tirolinas GO! Madrid, formerly known as Forestal Park, is around a 30-minute drive from Madrid, in the Sierra de Guadarrama nature area. If you are looking for something different from classic amusement park rides, it is worth considering.
This adventure park offers canoeing on the Las Encinillas reservoir, as well as rope courses through the forest. There are both family-friendly routes and more challenging options for those looking for a more active experience. The park has several courses with a total of 92 elements — suspension bridges, nets, crossings and ziplines. One of the most impressive sections is a 380-metre zipline over the water.
Adventure park in Sierra Norte de Madrid — Asdon Aventura
Asdon Aventura is located in Valle de Lozoya, in the Sierra Norte de Madrid nature area, and combines several types of outdoor activities. The main area is a multi-adventure park with rope courses, ziplines, aerial courses, a climbing wall and archery. There is a separate course for children from the age of 4 and more challenging courses designed for adults and older children.
You can also try more unusual activities here, such as a jump from a height, various balance and agility challenges, or go canoeing on the surrounding waterways.
Rope park near Madrid — Aventura Amazonia Cercedilla
Aventura Amazonia Cercedilla is located in Parque Recreativo de las Berceas, among the pine forests of the Sierra de Guadarrama. There are seven courses of varying difficulty — from KIDS and EXPLORADOR for children to DEPORTIVO and X-TREM for adults. The park has up to 33 ziplines in total, while the separate CANOPY course consists entirely of ziplines and has a total length of 470 metres.
The more challenging routes feature suspension bridges, nets, balancing elements and other obstacles, with some sections reaching heights of up to 11 metres. For the bravest visitors, there is Monkey Jump — a jump from a 12-metre-high platform. At the same time, you can start getting to know the park on the easiest courses: children can use the routes from the age of 6 and with a height of at least 1.15 m.
❄️ Indoor entertainment
If the weather is not suitable for outdoor activities or you are looking for something unusual to do indoors, Madrid has several interesting options — from an indoor snow slope to indoor skydiving.
Indoor ski slope in Madrid — Madrid SnowZone
If you love snow and ski resorts, Madrid SnowZone is sure to interest you. It is located inside the Xanadú shopping and entertainment centre in Arroyomolinos, around a 20-minute drive from Madrid. It is the only indoor ski resort in Spain, where a temperature of around −2 °C is maintained all year round and real snow is kept regardless of the weather outside the complex.
There are two slopes inside: the main slope, 250 metres long and 55 metres wide, is designed for more experienced skiers and snowboarders, while a separate 100-metre slope with a gentler gradient is suitable for beginners. The main slope has a chairlift, while beginners have their own lift systems. You can ski independently or take lessons with an instructor, and all the necessary equipment can be hired on site.
But SnowZone is not only interesting for those who already know how to ski. There is tobogganing — sliding down the snow on special sledges — and snowbikes — riding bicycles on snow, and no previous skiing experience is required for either activity. This means SnowZone can also be considered an unusual family activity, especially if you want to experience a winter-style activity even in summer.
Indoor skydiving in Madrid — WINDOBONA
WINDOBONA is located in the Carabanchel district, opposite the Islazul shopping centre, and offers a rather unusual way to have fun — flying in a vertical wind tunnel. Instead of jumping from a plane, a powerful airflow is used to lift you into the air and create the sensation of free fall. Inside the glass chamber, you can literally hover in the air without experiencing heights or making a real parachute jump.
Before the flight, the instructor provides a special jumpsuit, helmet, protective goggles and earplugs, and then gives a short briefing. Participants then enter the chamber one at a time, and everyone flies together with an instructor. The standard package includes two one-minute flights: the first is intended to help you get used to the airflow, while during the second the instructor may allow you to move more freely in the air stream.
WINDOBONA accepts visitors from the age of 4, so both children and adults can try this type of experience. The whole process takes considerably longer than the actual flight time: including registration, preparation, briefing and waiting for your turn, a visit usually lasts between one and one and a half hours. For those who enjoy it, there are longer flights and special indoor skydiving courses.
🧩 Interactive and immersive spaces
Madrid also has unusual places where visitors become part of what is happening: you can try your hand at different professions, experiment with optical illusions or explore interactive and immersive installations.
Children's city in Madrid — Micropolix
Micropolix is located in San Sebastián de los Reyes, around 30 kilometres from the centre of Madrid, and is a whole indoor city created especially for children aged 4 to 14. There are streets and squares, a bank, hospital, supermarket, police station, television studio, driving circuit and other urban facilities. But the most interesting part is not simply walking around this city, but how the game itself works.
On arrival, each child receives a passport, a Micropolix map and 50 Eurix — the local currency. The child then chooses what to do: in one place they can try their hand at being a firefighter, pilot, doctor, police officer or cashier, while in another they can complete a task or take on a challenge. Some activities earn Eurix, while others require them to spend them, so children have to decide for themselves which activities to choose and how to manage their money.
There is no need to book individual activities in advance. The child goes to the chosen activity, where the next group of participants is formed; each session usually lasts 15–20 minutes. Monitors explain the rules and organise the process, so children can move independently from one activity to another. There are more than 30 activities in Micropolix in total, and the selection depends on age: children aged 4–6 and 7–14 have access to different activities.
Immersive space in Madrid — IKONO Madrid
IKONO Madrid is located in the city centre, directly opposite the Reina Sofía Museum, and is not a conventional museum but a space with interactive and immersive installations. Visitors move through different rooms, each designed around its own unusual theme: here you can find yourself surrounded by balloons, walk through a bamboo forest with lanterns or create drawings using light. In each room, you can interact with the surrounding space, experiment, play and take photos.
There are currently around 12 spaces at IKONO Madrid, covering an area of more than 600 m². The visit follows a set route and usually takes around an hour, making it convenient to visit during a walk around the Atocha area and the museums around the Reina Sofía.
Museum of Illusions in Madrid
Museum of Illusions in Madrid is located right in the city centre, just a few minutes' walk from Puerta del Sol. This is not a traditional museum with exhibits viewed from the outside, but an interactive space where visitors are constantly part of what is happening. Here you will find optical illusions, holograms, interactive installations, immersive rooms and logic games.
Many of the exhibits are specifically designed for interaction: you can change your perspective, see how the brain perceives the size and shape of objects, see several images in one, experiment with reflections or become part of the illusion yourself. For example, in Mesa de Clones, visitors appear at a table in several “copies” at once, while in Cuarto Invertido, an ordinary room becomes a photo setting where it seems as though you are walking on the ceiling. There are also more educational exhibits explaining how vision and the brain interpret what we see.
🎯 Entertainment centres
There are quite a few indoor entertainment centres in and around Madrid where you can spend several hours regardless of the weather. The formats here are very different: active parks with trampolines and obstacles, rides and arcade games, aerial courses and large children's play areas.
Indoor active park in Torrejón — Magic Waho Park
Magic Waho Park is located in the La Zarzuela area of Torrejón de Ardoz, around a 30-minute drive from central Madrid. It is a large indoor active entertainment park where trampolines are only part of what is on offer. Here you can jump freely, play basketball on trampolines, tackle an obstacle course, test your balance on special courses, jump into a pool filled with soft cubes or onto an airbag.
For those who want more than ordinary jumping, there is Ninja — an obstacle course with various challenges — as well as circuito de vida with six elements and a children's zipline. In other areas, you can play football, try Guerra de cuadros or Ruleta Rusa — active games where speed, agility and a good sense of balance are important. For younger children, there is a separate Zona Magic with its own play areas, a large ball pit, trampolines and a small zipline.
Indoor amusement park in Leganés — Babylon Park
Babylon Park is located in Westfield Parquesur shopping centre in Leganés and is a full-scale indoor amusement park. Here you will find roller coasters, a free-fall tower, bumper cars, spinning seats, VR experiences and more than 100 arcade machines. The entire space is designed around a space theme, turning what would normally be a gaming area into a small indoor amusement park.
The main feature of Babylon Park is the combination of real rides and classic arcade games. You can ride an indoor roller coaster, go up the Lanzadera and experience a free fall, race on the bumper cars or switch to arcade machines, VR and various skill games.
Entry to the park itself is free, while rides and games are paid for separately or included in unlimited passes. Individual attractions have their own height and age restrictions: for example, children from 95 cm tall can use the roller coaster only when accompanied by an adult.
Indoor adventure park — Vertical Park
Vertical Park is an indoor adventure park with two locations in Madrid and the surrounding area: in Plenilunio shopping centre in Madrid and at Centro Comercial Tres Aguas in Alcorcón. Here you can tackle aerial obstacle courses, use ziplines and try climbing. Visitors are admitted from the age of 4, while the courses are designed for different levels of difficulty.
Plenilunio has five aerial courses, ziplines and 24 climbing walls more than 7 metres high. Tres Aguas offers even more — eight aerial courses, ziplines and 16 climbing walls. For the youngest visitors, there are green courses with simpler obstacles, while the other routes gradually increase in height and difficulty.
Indoor children's park at Kinépolis — The Magic Forest
The Magic Forest is located at Kinépolis Madrid Ciudad de la Imagen and is a large indoor park for children aged 4 to 12. The space covers more than 1,100 m² and is designed as a fantasy forest: here you can climb on play structures, tackle mazes, jump on trampolines and go down large slides, including a volcano-shaped slide.
The park is designed specifically for children to play actively and independently, while parents can stay in the lounge area and restaurant. If desired, children can be left under the supervision of professional monitors while adults, for example, watch a film in the adjacent Kinépolis cinema. Children's birthday parties and special events are also held here.

If you are looking for more movement than ordinary entertainment centres offer, there are several large trampoline parks in Madrid and the surrounding area. Here you can not only jump on trampolines, but also tackle obstacle courses, play sports and try more active attractions.
Large trampoline park in Las Rejas — Urban Planet Las Rejas
Urban Planet Las Rejas is a large indoor trampoline park in the Las Rejas area of Madrid, where the main Free Jump area is complemented by many other activities. Here you can jump on interconnected trampolines, play Dodge Ball and Slam Basket, tackle obstacles in the Ninja Planet area, jump onto the Airbag and try other activities.
The park is suitable for regular visits as well as birthdays and other group events. There are different activity options for children and teenagers, while adults can also use most of the areas. Special Urban Planet socks are compulsory when using the trampoline area — they can be purchased on site and reused on subsequent visits.
Trampoline park and active entertainment in Leganés — Urban Planet Jump Leganés
Urban Planet Jump in Leganés is located in the Sambil Outlet shopping centre and offers several areas for active entertainment. The main feature of the park is the interconnected Free Jump trampolines, as well as a Foam Pit with a pool of soft cubes for safe jumping, an Airbag with a large air cushion, Dodge Ball for playing dodgeball, Slam Basket for basketball jumps and Gladiator — an area for balance competitions.
For those who find ordinary jumping not enough, there are more active options: in the Street Jump area you can practise jumps and parkour elements, while Pro Jump is designed for more advanced jumps and movements.
Trampoline park in Getafe — JumpYard Getafe
JumpYard Getafe is located in the Bulevar Getafe shopping centre and covers more than 3,000 m². The main Main Court area consists of interconnected trampolines, jumping areas, a fast track and various obstacles. In addition to trampolines, there is a Jump Tower, Performance Area, interactive games and other activities.
For young children, there is a separate three-storey KidsZone with slides, mazes and inflatable ring slides. And for those looking for something more unusual, SkyRider is worth trying — an attraction that runs directly above the trampoline area. It is paid for separately, while most of the other activities are included in the standard ticket.
Trampoline park in Torrejón de Ardoz — Atoope Park
Atoope Park Torrejón is located in the Parque Corredor shopping centre and combines trampolines with other active entertainment. Here you can jump on open trampolines, tackle an obstacle course, play dodgeball and football on trampolines, compete on the Battle Beam and Battle Bridge — special areas where participants try to keep their balance and knock their opponent off — jump into a pit filled with soft cubes and shoot basketballs from trampolines in the Slam Dunk area.
The park is suitable for families with children of different ages, with separate areas provided according to visitors' height and age. They also host birthday parties and group events, and before starting their visit, all participants take part in a mandatory warm-up and are introduced to the safety rules.

If you want to add a little speed and competition to your trip, there are several karting venues near Madrid with different types of tracks — from family karting in Leganés and an indoor track in Las Rozas to an outdoor track in Pedrezuela.
Family karting in Leganés — Formula Cero
Formula Cero is located in Leganés, around 20 minutes' drive from central Madrid, and is designed for families with children of different ages. Children aged 8 to 14 have a separate 800-metre track, while the main track of the same length is available for teenagers aged 15 and over and adults.
Between races, you can try other activities at the complex, such as bumper cars and pedal go-karts. Sessions on the main and Junior tracks last 10 minutes, so the format is easy to fit even into a short trip. At the same time, the complex presents itself as a family leisure centre rather than just a karting venue.
Indoor karting near Madrid — Karting Carlos Sainz Las Rozas
Karting Carlos Sainz is located in Las Rozas, around 25–30 minutes' drive from central Madrid. Here you can take to a 450-metre indoor track that runs over two levels and includes a bridge, tunnel and sharp bends. Before the first race, there is a short briefing and a driver's licence is issued, after which the 10-minute race begins. You can see your result immediately after finishing: during the race, electronic timing records each participant's lap time.
There are separate sessions for children using special karts. Participation is allowed from a height of 1.30 m, while the age limit for Junior karts is 14. Children's sessions take place separately, so children can calmly try their skills on the track without having to compete against adult participants.
Outdoor karting near Madrid — Karting Ángel Burgueño
Karting Ángel Burgueño is located in Pedrezuela, around 40 minutes' drive north of central Madrid, close to the A-1 motorway. Unlike the indoor Karting Carlos Sainz, it has an outdoor track with fast straights and technical corners. The track is equipped with electronic timing and an electronic flag system, and a mandatory briefing is held before going out on track.
There are separate sessions for children using special karts. Participation is allowed from the age of 8 with a minimum height of 1.30 m. One session lasts 10 minutes, while those looking for a real mini-competition can choose formats with qualifying and a race. After the sessions, you can stay at the restaurant at the karting venue: they also offer a special package with three sessions and a meal, so it is easy to combine the trip with lunch or dinner.
Karting Ángel Burgueño has an interesting history: in 1977, the Burgueño family opened a restaurant in Pedrezuela, and some time later a karting track appeared next to it. Over time, the venue became known not only among enthusiasts: endurance races were held here, and Fernando Alonso, Carlos Sainz Jr., Max Verstappen, Daniel Ricciardo and other well-known drivers have driven on the track. Today, they host not only regular sessions but also birthday parties, corporate events, team competitions and endurance races.
