Cadiz Carnival 2026: dates, programme and main events

The Cadiz Carnival is recognized as a Festival of International Tourist Interest and attracts thousands of visitors from all over Spain and abroad every year. The festival is famous for its satirical songs, street performances and carnival group competitions.

The carnival programme includes parades, music shows, performances by chirigotas and comparsas, as well as the official carnival group competition, which takes place at the Gran Teatro Fallas. The main events take place in San Antonio Square, in the La Viña district, in Las Flores Square and in the streets of the old town.

  • 12 of February — start of the festive programme and first street events.
  • 13 of February the grand finale of the Official Carnival Group Competition (COAC) at the Gran Teatro de Falla.
  • 14 of February — official opening of the carnival (‘Pregón’) in San Antonio Square.
  • 15 of February — one of the main days of the carnival, with parades and numerous street activities.
  • 22 of February — end of the carnival and final performances.

Good to know: most of the carnival's street events are free, but it is advisable to book tickets for the final competitions at the Fallas Theatre in advance due to high demand.
