Family holidays in Alicante and along the Costa Blanca don't necessarily mean spending whole days on the beach. Children are always looking for new experiences: going on rides, seeing exotic animals, bouncing on trampolines or organising a real racing competition on a go-kart track.

There are plenty of places in the province of Alicante where the whole family can have a great time and find something to do, even for those who quickly get bored with ordinary walks. Many of these interesting places are located in Alicante itself or within approximately an hour's drive of the city, making them easy to include in a family holiday itinerary or even a day trip.

Amusement parks
There are amusement parks in the province of Alicante to suit all tastes, from large theme parks with roller coasters and shows to smaller family parks where you can spend a few hours with the children.
Terra Mítica — a theme park in Benidorm

Terra Mítica is one of the best-known theme parks on the Costa Blanca, dedicated to the ancient civilisations of the Mediterranean. Its grounds are divided into five themed areas: Egypt, Greece, Rome, Iberia and the Islands. Here, you can stroll through recreations of ancient cities, visit the port of Alexandria during Cleopatra's time and encounter characters from ancient myths.
The main attraction at Terra Mítica is its rides for all levels of bravery. Adrenaline seekers should look out for the Titanide roller coaster with its inversions and the dizzying spins of Synkope, while there are gentler carousels and water rides for family days out. Some rides end with spectacular splashes, so you can cool off at the same time on a hot day. Throughout the day, the park also hosts themed shows and performances featuring actors, costumes and historical stories.
Terra Mítica is located in Benidorm, which is famous not only for its magnificent beaches and skyscrapers but also for its theme parks. It's best to set aside a whole day to visit the complex so that you have time to enjoy the rides, watch the shows and explore the themed areas. If you're planning to visit in summer, bring your swimming costumes and quick-drying clothes: some of the water rides end with a rather refreshing shower!
Mundo de los Niños — an amusement park for children in Alicante

Mundo de los Niños is a small amusement park with rides for children of different ages. You can spend a few hours here playing games and enjoying active entertainment without having to plan a whole trip to a large theme park.
The park has children's go-karts, trampolines, mini-golf, an inflatable obstacle course and the small Shark Trip roller coaster. For something different, you can try the Cinema 7D simulator or take a ride on the Venture River water attraction. Some attractions are designed for the youngest visitors, while others are suitable for older children.
Mundo de los Niños is located in Alicante, close to the port and promenade. If you're arriving by car, there is public parking nearby, so you won't have to spend much time looking for somewhere to leave your car before heading off to have fun with the children.
Pola Park — a family amusement park in Santa Pola

Pola Park is a family amusement park in the resort town of Santa Pola, around a 20–25-minute drive from Alicante. It offers entertainment for children and adults, including carousels, roller coasters, go-karting, trampolines and mini-golf. It's a good option for a family evening out or a separate day trip, especially if you fancy swapping the beach for something more active.
As well as the rides, Pola Park hosts shows and themed events. Throughout the year, the park holds seasonal celebrations such as Halloween and Christmas programmes, so the atmosphere changes depending on when you visit. There are also places to eat within the park where you can take a break between attractions.
When planning your trip, bear in mind that Pola Park is not open every day throughout the year: opening dates and hours depend on the season, and during the cooler months the park welcomes visitors on weekends and public holidays. In summer, there are usually more opportunities to visit, of course.
Family Park — a family amusement park in Alicante

Family Park is an open-air amusement park with two locations in the province of Alicante: near San Juan Beach and in San Vicente del Raspeig. It offers around 30 attractions for children and parents, so you can choose the location depending on which rides your family is most interested in.
At Family Park San Juan, younger visitors can enjoy trampolines, inflatable slides, children's cars, pirate-themed mini-golf and the Fun Factory play area with ball pits and slides. Older children will enjoy the Gotham Adventure rope obstacles, laser games and the small Fun Dog roller coaster. The San Vicente park has its own range of attractions, including go-karting, a bumper car track, a large inflatable play area, a zip line and a Ferris wheel. So it's not just a place for little ones — school-age children will find plenty to do too.
Family Park does not have a single admission ticket: entry to the grounds is free, while rides are paid for separately or you can buy a wristband for the whole day. There are cafés on site, and the San Juan location has free parking. During the usual season, the parks are generally open in the evenings from Friday to Sunday, while in summer they open daily.
Water parks
On hot summer days, a water park is a great way to add some variety to a beach holiday. The province of Alicante has water parks with tall slides for thrill-seekers, pools for the whole family and separate play areas where even young children can have fun.
Aqualandia — one of the largest water parks in Europe

Aqualandia is a famous water park in Benidorm that has been operating for over 40 years and attracts families with children and water ride enthusiasts every year. Its extensive green grounds feature dozens of attractions, from relaxing pools and family slides to extreme rides that draw visitors from all along the coast.
The bravest visitors can try Verti-Go, with its almost vertical drop, as well as Cyclón, a water ride with a winding course and thrilling turns. There are special areas for children, including Adventureland and Jungle Kids, with slides of varying heights. Between swims, you can relax in the park's shady spots, grab a bite to eat at a café or enjoy a family picnic in the designated area.
Aqua Natura — a family water park in Benidorm

Aqua Natura is a water park in Benidorm that is ideal for a family day out with children. Its grounds are designed in a Mediterranean style, with islands, beach areas and swimming pools. You can spend the whole day here, alternating water slides with swimming and relaxing on a sun lounger while the children enjoy the play areas.
For those who love speed, there are high slides and rides on inflatable rings, while younger visitors can enjoy shallow pools, water fountains, mini-slides and play structures. In the Adventure Island area, you can run through jets of water, explore water obstacles and play around a small water castle. Among the more unusual activities is the ‘Mermaid and Merman School’, where participants learn to swim with a monofin and take on a magical, fairytale look.
Aquópolis Torrevieja — a water park for the whole family

Aquópolis Torrevieja is a popular summer water park in the south of the province of Alicante, attracting families staying in Torrevieja and neighbouring resort towns. You can spend a whole day by the water here, alternating slides with swimming in the pools and relaxing in the green areas while the children choose their next adventure.
Thrill-seekers should look out for Kamikaze, while those who prefer sliding down with friends or family can try Boomerang and Hydro Racer. There are separate children's areas with water games and slides for younger visitors. If you fancy a break from the rides, the park also has swimming pools, jacuzzis, relaxation areas and cafés.
Animal parks
If your children love animals, there are several places in the province of Alicante that are worth setting aside a whole day for. You can see giraffes and lions, go on a wildlife safari by car or explore a large zoo with animals from different corners of the world.
Río Safari Elche — animals and a safari between Elche and Santa Pola

Río Safari Elche is an animal park located between Elche and Santa Pola, among palm groves. It has been open since 1983 and is home to more than a hundred animal species, including giraffes, lions, tigers, chimpanzees, orangutans and sea lions. Here, you can see not only large predators but also reptiles, birds and the inhabitants of the educational farm.
You can explore the park on foot, but part of the route can be covered by a small sightseeing train. Animal encounters and sea lion shows take place throughout the day, while staff explain the animals' behaviour and care. For children, this is an opportunity not just to see animals from a distance but also to learn more about them. During the summer months, the Splash Park water area also opens, with slides and pools — a welcome bonus in hot weather.
Safari Aitana — a real safari in the mountains of Alicante

Safari Aitana is an unusual animal park in the Sierra de Aitana mountains, about an hour's drive from the coast. It opened in 1975 and offers an experience quite different from an ordinary zoo: visitors cover most of the route in their own cars, observing animals across spacious enclosures. The journey becomes a real mini-safari, particularly exciting for children who are used to seeing wild animals only on a screen or behind barriers.
The park is home to elephants, giraffes, lions, hippos, tigers, bison and representatives of other species from Africa, Asia, America and Australia. During the drive, you can watch the animals moving around their enclosures and interacting with one another. Part of the park is explored on foot, and if you wish, you can join a guided tour with staff, which usually takes place during the feeding of the herbivores.
Terra Natura — a zoo with animals from around the world in Benidorm

Terra Natura is a large animal park in Benidorm, home to more than 1,500 animals representing around 150 species. Across an area of approximately 320,000 m², you can see elephants, lions, tigers, rhinos, primates, exotic birds and reptiles. Instead of the usual rows of enclosures, the park recreates environments that resemble the animals' natural habitats: visitors walk through themed areas, and many of the barriers are almost invisible.
The route passes through several sections of the park dedicated to different regions of the world. In the American area, you can see jaguars, capybaras and monkeys; in the Asian section, Indian elephants, tigers and rhinos; while Pangea is home to snakes, scorpions and other unusual creatures. Animal keeper encounters and educational activities take place throughout the day, with staff explaining the animals' behaviour and characteristics. Children particularly enjoy watching feeding sessions and learning how the park's inhabitants are cared for.
Mundomar — a marine animal and exotic bird park in Benidorm

Mundomar is an animal park in Benidorm where you can see dolphins, sea lions, penguins, lemurs, flamingos and a wide variety of exotic birds. More than 80 species live across an area of over 60,000 m². The park is surrounded by greenery, palm trees and tropical plants, so walking between animal encounters feels like a little journey into another world.
The main highlights of the day are the dolphin, sea lion and parrot shows. In addition to the shows, Mundomar offers extra animal interaction programmes: for example, you can watch lemurs and penguins being fed or learn more about the work of the animal keepers. The shows are scheduled throughout the day, so it's best to check the timetable in advance and plan your route to make sure you don't miss the performances you're interested in.
Rope courses and adventure parks
If the children have had enough of ordinary carousels and playgrounds, try rope courses, suspension bridges and zip lines. In these parks, you can test your agility, overcome obstacles at height and feel like real adventurers.
Lo Rufete — a family adventure park near Torrevieja

Lo Rufete Multiaventura Park is an outdoor activity park in San Miguel de Salinas, near Torrevieja. Here, you can go horse riding, try the zip line, take a quad bike ride, play mini-golf or try archery.
Children are sure to enjoy meeting the horses and riding the 150-metre-long zip line, while those looking for more action can try quad biking, kayaking and other activities. After your adventures, you can have lunch at the on-site snack bar and then relax by the outdoor swimming pool with sun loungers. It is this combination of activities and opportunities to unwind that makes Lo Rufete a great option for a full day out with the family.
Tirolinas GO! Alicante — adventures among the trees

Tirolinas GO! Alicante is located in La Nucía, near Benidorm, and offers a completely different type of entertainment from traditional amusement parks. Instead of carousels, you'll find treetop rope courses, suspension bridges, nets, climbing walls and zip lines. You'll need to keep your balance, overcome obstacles and sometimes conquer your fear of heights — children particularly enjoy the feeling of taking on a real challenge.
The park has more than 80 obstacles and several courses of varying difficulty. Some of the most memorable attractions include a long zip line stretching over 200 metres and a Tarzan swing. The minimum height for the family course is 1.10 m, while the sports course requires a minimum height of 1.45 m. Before starting, participants are given a safety briefing and all the necessary equipment.
Trail Natura — rope courses, a climbing wall and a zip line

Trail Natura is located in Onil, inland in the province, and brings together several activities in one place. You can tackle rope courses, try the outdoor climbing wall, ride an 80-metre zip line or organise a team laser tag competition. This format is particularly convenient if your family has children of different ages or you're planning a day out with a large group.
The rope park has two obstacle courses and separate zip lines measuring 16 and 41 metres in length. Different activities have their own age restrictions, catering for various age groups: for example, the outdoor climbing wall is open to children aged 4 and over, while archery is available from the age of 6. It's important to note that some activities have specific age restrictions and visits are by advance booking only.

For a more relaxed way to explore the surroundings, horse rides and carriage rides are also available. With such a variety of activities, children won't have to limit themselves to trampolines alone.
The park also has attractions for younger visitors, including play areas with slides, a carousel, a ball pit filled with colourful balls and a space for building activities. Older children can test their agility on the Ninja Course obstacle course, compete with friends or try Bubble Football — football played inside inflatable bubbles.

In the trampoline area, you can jump freely, play basketball, have a game of dodgeball or try your hand at parkour. There is also a foam pit and a large airbag for soft landings after jumps. Interactive entertainment
If you're looking to try something unusual, the province of Alicante has places where you can immerse yourself in virtual reality, take part in interactive games and explore environments where visitors become part of the action. These experiences are particularly appealing to school-age children, teenagers and adults who enjoy new technology and unconventional experiences.
Virtual Zone Alicante — virtual reality and team adventures

Virtual Zone Alicante is an unusual entertainment centre in the heart of Alicante, in Plaza de los Luceros. Here, you can literally step inside a virtual world. Participants put on VR headsets and move freely around a specially equipped space, interacting with their surroundings and each other. It's nothing like playing an ordinary video game in front of a screen: here, you can explore virtual locations together, complete tasks and experience adventures almost as if you were in the real world.
There's a wide variety of experiences to choose from. You can embark on a space journey, discover Ancient Egypt, take part in a fantasy mission to save Alicante from an alien invasion or tackle a virtual escape room with puzzles and horror elements. There are also team battles in specially designed arenas, where you'll need to coordinate your actions and plan your tactics. So you can choose anything from an educational adventure to a more fast-paced game with friends.
Museum of Illusions Alicante — a museum of optical illusions

Museum of Illusions Alicante is an unusual interactive space in the centre of Alicante, where familiar things look quite different from what we expect. Here, you can discover optical illusions, experiment with perspective and explore installations that trick the eye and confuse the senses. Some exhibits make you question your own eyes, while others let you step inside extraordinary visual effects.
This place is interesting for more than just children: adults also enjoy solving visual puzzles and taking photos against unusual backdrops. During your visit, you can learn how some illusions work and why the brain sometimes perceives what we see quite differently from the way reality is structured. For those looking for an even more unusual experience, there's an additional VR experience called ‘The Trail of Angels’ — a virtual journey through a world inspired by the works of Lithuanian artist Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, accompanied by his music.
Another World Alicante — team adventures in virtual reality

There's a wide variety of scenarios to choose from: space expeditions, team battles, ghost stories and even a game in which participants have to run a fantasy tavern, prepare dishes and serve fairytale guests. So not all the games revolve around shooting and combat — you can opt for a more relaxed adventure or a fun team competition. Each session lasts around 40 minutes, and groups of two to ten people can play.
Another World Alicante is located near Plaza de Luceros in Alicante. The games are suitable for participants aged 8 and over, making this a good option for families with school-age children and teenagers, as well as groups of friends. This place is ideal for families looking to add something unusual to a day out in the city. You can move from one room to another, find interesting angles for photos and experiment with how the surrounding space changes your perception. Children will love the imaginative atmosphere, while adults can take original photos to remember the visit. Unlike VR centres, no special headsets or equipment are needed here: the experience is created through the design and interaction with the space.
Go-karting for the whole family
The province of Alicante has both outdoor tracks for racing enthusiasts and indoor karting centres where you can race whatever the weather.
Karting Alacant — family races and a mini Grand Prix

Karting Alacant is located in the Villafranqueza area, approximately five kilometres from the centre of Alicante. It has an outdoor track around 750 metres long, with straights and bends where you can take part in real races and compete for the fastest lap time. Electronic timing lets you keep track of your results and find out who in your group is the fastest driver.
Special karts are available for children, while adults can ride with younger passengers in two-seater karts. Teenagers and adults can also choose a suitable racing option. If an ordinary race isn't enough, look out for the Gran Premio programme, which includes practice, qualifying and a final race with a podium presentation — almost like a real racing championship.
There is a café, a covered terrace and a children's playground on site. After racing, you can relax, grab a bite to eat and watch the other races. And if you organise a family competition, you'll have an extra reason to find out who deserves the title of the day's top driver.
Karting 932 — indoor electric go-karting for the whole family

Karting 932 is located in San Vicente del Raspeig, next to the University of Alicante. It is a large indoor karting centre with electric karts, where you can race whatever the weather. The track, with its sharp bends and technically challenging sections, requires you to watch your racing line and look for opportunities to overtake your rivals.
There are single-seater karts with adjustable seats and pedals, as well as two-seater karts in which an adult can ride with a child. The centre's main feature is its all-electric karting: instead of the familiar roar of petrol engines, you can focus on speed and competing for the best result. However, be prepared for sessions to cost a little more than at conventional outdoor karting tracks.
Racing Center Gilesias — go-karting for the whole family in San Fulgencio

Racing Center Gilesias is located off the N-332 road, between La Marina and Guardamar del Segura, near San Fulgencio. The karting centre has been operating since 1989, and its track, with bends and fast sections, lets you enjoy real races and find out who in your group is best behind the wheel. Electronic timing records lap times, so after your session you can compare results and identify the fastest driver.
There are karts for different age groups, from children's models to more powerful machines for adults, as well as two-seater karts in which young children can ride with an adult. The track also hosts organised competitions and group events, and special racing packages are available for families.
Oriokart — go-karting with a bridge, tunnels and a separate children's track

Oriokart is located near the town of Orihuela, in the south of the province of Alicante. Its main feature is a large outdoor track measuring 1,280 metres, with 32 bends, a bridge, a tunnel and sections with changes in elevation. It even has a banked bend inspired by American racing circuits such as Daytona. This track is about more than just speed: you need to choose your racing line carefully, negotiate challenging bends and look for the right moment to overtake.
There is a separate track for children, complete with its own bridge and two tunnels, allowing young drivers to race independently of the adult sessions. Special children's karts are available, as well as two-seater karts in which a child can ride with an adult. This means the whole family can take part in the racing, even if the children have no previous go-karting experience.
Fast Kart Elche (Elx Karting Club) — a high-speed track and real racing competitions

Fast Kart Elche is located in Elche, not far from the city centre. It is an outdoor track around 1,160 metres long, with fast straights, bends and plenty of room for overtaking. During races, the results are displayed on a large video screen, allowing you to follow lap times and competitors' positions.
Special karts are available for children, while adults can ride with a child in a two-seater kart. More powerful models are available for teenagers and adults. You can choose a standard session or try the Gran Premio format, which includes practice laps, qualifying and the main race. For those looking for a longer competition, there are also programmes with several stages and a final race.
AV Karting — family races and a mini Grand Prix in Moraira

AV Karting by Adrián Vallés is located on the road between Teulada and Moraira, in the north of the province of Alicante. Its outdoor track, around 700 metres long, allows speeds of up to 100 km/h in the fastest karts. There are bends and straights, while electronic timing helps you track lap times and compare results.
The centre offers four kart categories: Junior, Senior, ProSenior and two-seater karts for riding together. If you'd like to experience what it's like to take part in a real racing championship, mini Grand Prix events with qualifying and final races can be organised for groups of five or more. Winners can be presented with their own trophies, and video footage of the race filmed using an onboard kart camera is even available for special events.
AV Karting also has an interesting feature of its own — a room displaying the racing trophies of Adrián Vallés, after whom the centre is named. After your race, you can relax on the terrace overlooking the track, visit the billiards room or games room, and grab a bite to eat at the bar.
Family escape rooms
The province of Alicante has escape rooms featuring magical stories, detective puzzles and special scenarios for children — choose the right option and set off on a family adventure!
The X-Door Alicante — space adventures and escape rooms with unexpected humour

The X-Door Alicante is located in the centre of Alicante and offers story-driven escape rooms with impressive sets, electronic mechanisms and unexpected twists. Here, participants don't just search for keys and solve puzzles — they become the heroes of their own story, exploring rooms, finding clues and working together. For example, in the CAÍN escape room, the team finds itself aboard a spacecraft that has gone off course and must work out what happened to save a future human colony.
If science fiction isn't your thing, you can choose TRUMP — a comedy adventure in which you must break into the president's office and find compromising documents. Here, a serious investigation turns into a series of humorous situations, unexpected surprises and amusing challenges. There are other storylines to choose from too, so you can pick an adventure that suits your family's interests before booking.
Ingenious Escape Room Elche — from Merlin's magic to detective investigations

If you'd like to spend time together as a family immersed in a real adventure rather than in front of a screen, visit Ingenious Escape Room in Elche. Here, you can travel back to a medieval kingdom, investigate a series of mysterious crimes or venture into a house with a paranormal history. In Excalibur: las pruebas de Merlín, participants must complete the legendary wizard's challenges and prove they are worthy of becoming King Arthur's heirs. Detective fans will enjoy El asesino del Zodiaco, in which the team must gather clues and solve a crime.
Each story offers its own puzzles and atmosphere, so you can choose an adventure to suit your family's interests. Most scenarios are designed for teams of 2 to 7 people and last around 60–70 minutes. There is a particularly useful option for families with children: almost all games, apart from Extinction, which features zombies and survival elements, can be adapted for children. In this version, the organisers tone down the intensity so that younger participants can focus on the puzzles and teamwork.
Xcape Room Finestrat — an adventure in Wonderland and puzzles for the whole family

Xcape Room Finestrat is located in Finestrat, near Benidorm. Here, you can stop a dangerous infection and save the city by completing the Resident Virus X escape room. Alternatively, you can set off in search of the Mad Hatter's missing hat. In El Sombrerero de Alicia, participants must outsmart the Queen of Hearts and bring joy back to Wonderland. The colourful atmosphere, unusual sets and original puzzles make this adventure an excellent choice for a family day out.
One of the special features of Xcape Room Finestrat is its Junior mode, designed for children aged 7 and over. This allows you to choose a format suited to the participants' ages, so children can take a more active role in solving the puzzles while adults help the team work towards its goal.
Secret Hunter Alicante — pirate treasure and a secret police operation

At Secret Hunter in Alicante, you can feel like a real pirate or secret agent. In Isla Calavera, young participants must lift the curse of a mysterious island and find the hidden treasure. In Operación Diamante, children become police officers: they must track down a gang, recover stolen jewels and find the missing diamond. Both adventures have been specially designed for children and turn solving puzzles into an exciting team game.
Secret Hunter is a great choice for a birthday party, with scenarios designed for groups of 6 to 15 participants. If you're visiting as a smaller family group, you can choose another scenario: Suite 405, a detective story set in a hotel room, or Malibú, a lighter and more humorous adventure. These games have options suitable for both children and adults.
Sabotaje Rooms — saving the fairytale world of sweets in Elche

Imagine a whole world filled with sweets, chocolate and treats, threatened by a cunning villain! In the children's escape room Sabotaje a Candyland, participants must help King Candy save his kingdom. Lord Regaliz has sabotaged four fairytale worlds and cut off the supplies of ingredients needed for the royal dessert. To put everything right, the young heroes must search for clues, solve puzzles and restore order — all before the villain returns.
The adventure lasts 75 minutes, and the game is designed for small teams of two to three people. What matters here is not speed or strength, but attention to detail, logic and the ability to spot clues. It's a great option for children who love puzzles and fantasy stories, as well as for parents looking to plan an unusual family outing or add a new experience to a children's party.
Sabotaje Rooms is located in La Foia d'Elx, in the Elche area. The venue also offers other, more challenging scenarios, but Candyland is the best choice for families with children: it has been specially designed for younger participants and tailored to their age and abilities. Bear in mind that the game is conducted in Spanish, and participants must move around indoors wearing socks, without shoes.
