Marbella is a famous luxury resort town in Spain, which is only 50 minutes from the Malaga, on the Costa del Sol. The city is one of the most popular tourist destinations, annually attracting thousands of tourists not only with its sandy beaches and mild climate, but also with a wide variety of entertainment for every taste.
Celebrities come to Marbella, not only locals, but also world-famous celebrities. There are fancy cars, boutiques with brand-name clothes, expensive restaurants, elite clubs and much more!
So what's so interesting about this resort, what makes it different from other Costa del Sol resorts?

Marbella Old Town (Casco Antiguo)

Marbella, founded by the Romans as Salduba, became a fortified city during the Muslim period. The Muslims built a castle and defence walls, but after 1485 the Catholic monarchs changed the layout of the town, still retaining the Arab style in the new buildings.
Marbella what to doNow Marbella's old town is a picturesque Andalusian corner with narrow cobbled streets full of flowers, aromas and the aura of the Middle Ages. A stroll here will leave you savouring its charming atmosphere and history. 
Orange Tree SquareMain Square Plaza de los Naranjos (Orange Tree Square) surrounded by beautiful landmark buildings such as the Casa del Corregidor and the Ermita de Santiago. Be sure to check out Ancha Street with the church of Santo Cristo de la Vera Cruz and the chapel of San Juan de Dios.

The church of Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación in the Plaza de Iglesia is one of the most important in the city, dating back to 1600.
It was built on the site of a mosque and inside you can see amazing images of the Virgin Mary, saints and Christ. The church has an organ with a silver-plated angel, which is considered to be one of the best in Spain.

Alameda Park

Alameda ParkParque Alameda is the heart of Marbella, located between the old town and Avenida del Mar, which leads to the famous Paseo Marítimo. It is a great place to continue exploring the city, where you can enjoy nature and relax in the shade of the trees. The park has rich vegetation and cosy benches for relaxing.
Created in the 18th century, Alameda Park originally covered more than 20,000 m², but over time it has been reduced in size. In the 1930s, it took on its modern appearance. In the centre of the park is the Virgen del Rocío fountain with an evening light show.

Marbella promenade - Paseo Marítimo de Marbella

Paseo Maritimo in Marbella is a beautifully landscaped promenade along the Mediterranean Sea, stretching almost 7 kilometres from the city centre to Puerto Banus. It combines tradition and modernity: the cobbled pathway is framed by palm trees and decorated with many interesting sculptures, including works by the famous Salvador Dali.

Walking promenadeAlong the route are iconic beaches such as La Venus and Casablanca, where tourists and locals alike enjoy the atmosphere. The historic lighthouse and Puerto Deportivo de Marbella add to the charm, while numerous beach bars offer refreshing soft drinks and local specialities.

Golden Mile of Marbella - Milla de Oro Marbella

A prestigious avenue that starts at the western end of the seafront and extends all the way to Puerto Banus. This is why we tourists come to Marbella - to see the prestige and luxury in its very essence, to be a part of this elite life, and maybe to become a part of it, if only for a short while. This place is also called the European Beverly Hills.

Golden Mile of MarbellaIt is home to magnificent villas with unique designs, resorts and beaches that attract upscale tourists with their glamour. In this area you will find a variety of restaurants and beach clubs offering local cuisine gourmet gastronomy and an unrivalled atmosphere! 
The Marbella Club, opened in 1954, has become a centre of glamour, attracting stars such as Ava Gardner and Sean Connery.

The Golden Mile has attained the status of a luxury address thanks to famous residents, including Saudi Arabia's King Fahd, who built a summer residence here.

Puerto Banús

Puerto BanúsPuerto Banús is another luxury tourist destination in Marbella, founded by José Banús in 1962. The harbour opened to the public in 1970 and quickly became popular with celebrities. Here you can see expensive cars and yachts and stroll through cosy streets with boutiques.
The main street of this place is Avenida Jose Banus, decorated with starfish-shaped tiles with the names of famous personalities.
Don't miss the La Victoria sculpture, over 30 metres high, and the Avenida Julio Iglesias, which celebrates the singer's contribution to the promotion of the city. And Antonio Banderas Square is famous for its summer craft fair.
